چکیده
Huerta et al. [Phys. Rev. Research 2, 033351 (2020)] report a power-law decay of positional order in numerical simulations hard disks confined within parallel walls, which they interpret as Kosterlitz-Thouless (KT)-type caging-uncaging transition. The proposed existence such transition quasi-one-dimensional system, however, contradicts long-held physical expectations. To clarify if the ordering persists thermodynamic limit, we introduce an exact transfer matrix approach to expeditiously generate configurations very large subsystems that are typical equilibrium (infinite-size) systems. is found extend only over finite distances. We conclude simulation results reported associated with crossover unrelated KT-type physics, and not proper phase

The Kosterlitz-Thouless Transition
Matter in the universe is organised in a hierarchical structure. At the bottom we have elementary particles: quarks, gluons, electrons etc. At present we don’t know what these particles are made off. But we believe we know that quarks, gluons etc. make up protons, neutrons, etc. These then go together to make atoms, that are the building blocks of molecules. Atoms and molecules gives us gas, li...
متن کاملKosterlitz-Thouless phase transition in the system of one-dimensional strongly interacting fermions
We are presenting the wave function of the ground state for the system of one-dimension interacting fermions . It is shown that this system undergoes phase transition similar to the Kosterlitz-Thouless one independently of the interaction details. In the limit of infinitely strong interaction the phase transition turns into the usual second order phase transition in a chiral phase. The temperat...
متن کاملBerezinskii-Thouless-Kosterlitz Transition in a Two-Dimensional Atomic Gas
We introduce the concepts of Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition and quasi longrange order in the context of the 2D electron gas model. We then apply this framework to 2D superfluidity to obtain the superfluid transition temperature. Finally, we review the recent experimental work of Hadzibabic et al. which observes BKT transition in a 2D trapped Rb gas. Thermal de Broglie waveleng...
متن کاملBerezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in two-dimensional dipole systems.
The superfluid to normal fluid transition of dipolar bosons in two dimensions is studied in a broad density range by using path integral Monte Carlo simulations and summarized in the phase diagram. While at low densities we find good agreement with the universal results depending only on the scattering length a{s}, at moderate and high densities the transition temperature is strongly affected b...
